Wet grass under March cloud cover — a season wanting to arrive, held back just enough, with a week beginning in quiet purpose.
Why
The overcast spring Monday called for a palette built on hue 100° — that specific yellow-green frequency of wet March grass under cloud cover. The neutral scale carries the hue throughout, keeping the page alive without ever feeling bright. Fraunces with its high-contrast strokes and optical warmth carries the "four-track" imperfection the brief asked for — slightly melodic, slightly rough, emphatically not corporate — while Outfit recedes into pure service as body text. The semantic token layer maps all the spec's named values (bgCard, bgSidebar, textMuted, etc.) so components can reference meaning rather than raw values. Dark mode is built in from the ground up, defaulting to the deep moss backgrounds with lighter accent and text values.
The spring green accent (#5A8A3E) earns its presence by appearing in exactly the right places — the left stripe on the Tigers widget, the quote bar, the St. Patrick's hairline — while the amber secondary (#C4875A at 35% opacity) is a single hairline above the Iran note and nowhere else. The Perfect Fourth scale (1.333) gives the layout editorial drama at 50px headings and real weight at 37px scores, while keeping body and labels honest.
